Luka and I have been together for almost 8 years, married in October 2016, and started trying to start our family in February 2018. We were both young and healthy and didn’t think it would take long, naively assuming that by 2019 we would be welcoming a baby. Instead, in 2019, we were seeking out doctors, testing, and fertility medications. After countless medicated cycles, three losses, and an IVF consult, we started trying to decide how we could pay for IVF - a consideration no one should have to take in when they are trying to welcome a child into their lives. We should be budgeting for cribs and nurseries, not tens of thousands in shots, pills, and doctors. We stumbled upon Hope for Fertility, and gained an amazing community. Not only did we receive a grant that significantly lessened the weight of our IVF costs, but we made connections with the board and team that have lasted to this day. In April 2021 we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Sophie Cadence Caraher, and she is the light of our lives. At 18 months old, she is spunky, bright, and adventurous, and we can’t imagine life without her. We are so thankful to have Hope for Fertility in our corner and are so happy they are the charity that Bestaroo is donating to this year!
